I am not sure how I forgot about this beautiful exhibition – The promise of tomorrow, that took place last week, from 15 to 22 June in Chicago, USA. I’ve put it in a good place, I’m sure.
But anyway, I can move on if I don’t share it with you and if anyboday was in the bustling US city last week and went to this very selective exhibition, I kindly ask him/her to share his/her impressions.
“The promise of this moment” exhibition highlights the capacity of objects to transform banal and commonplace activities into moments of play, relief, beauty and delight, exploring the aesthetic and experiential opportunities that lay hidden within routine. The show features upcoming designers Craighton Berman, Greg Bethel, Peter Bo, Jason Chernak, Bradley Duncan, Giffin’Termeer, Steve Haulenbeek, Sara Jacobson, Lindsay Macdonald, Materious, Bryan Metzdorf, Michael Savona, Garrett Smith and Smith&Linder.
The show has been curated by the Mighty Bearcats in collaboration with Object Design League.

Adieu by Materiousit is a gas-fireplace ‘logs’ for the ardent modernist made of slip-cast porcelain. Materious:
For the ardent modernist, these porcelain, gas-fireplace “logs” offer a torrid farewell to our stylistic past: “Goodbye, Queen Anne.” “So long, Mister Chippendale.” “Farewell, William, and to you, Mary.” (And this project may also symbolize our current historic period—one of global financial crisis, where furniture is burned not for the crime of ornament, but out of economic exigency.)
